Having recently moved to Lansing from Northern Virginia (the DC area), I’m constantly on the lookout for great places to eat.  Northern Virginia had an amazing cornucopia of restaurants  - Lebanese, Vietnamese, Korean, Salvadoran, Russian, Ethiopian, and Chinese.  My dining hero was Tyler Cowen and his amazing Ethnic Dining Guide. While I’m sure I cannot match Tyler’s knowledge of authentic ethnic foods, I hope that my journey of exploring Lansing’s eateries will help others find the perfect place to eat.

When you think of mid-Michigan, you wouldn’t normally think of culinary variety. However, with a large university and its proximity to Detroit (and its sizable Middle Eastern population), a scratch below Lansing’s surface reveals a health variety of restaurants.

However, this guide will not focus on ethnic food or “indie” restaurants. Even the run-of-the-mill suburbian steakhouses are fair game!
